Working Neighbourhoods Fund (WNF) Programme in Kingstanding Ward, Erdington and Sutton Constituencies
Kingstanding and Erdington
Enta CIC with their lead partners Merlin Venture have secured funding for the Erdington Constituency (which includes the four Wards of Erdington, Kingstanding, Stockland Green and Tyburn) to provide employment support for local residents.
Real Support from People you can Trust
The WNF Employment Connections Programme is aimed at only those who are currently unemployed, aged 19+ and living in those areas where unemployment is 25% or more. These neighbourhoods have been termed SOAs (Super Output Areas) and postcode checks are being used by those holding contracts to see who is eligible. Enta, Merlin and their 13 other partners know and are known in the local area and they offer support and training to those preparing for and seeking paid work.
Success!
Since this programme started in October 2009 a great number of people from the Kingstanding Ward and Erdington Constituency have been supported into either paid work or paid work experience. At present over 600 people are being supported and 140+ have got into work or work experience.
Support for Lone Parents
Currently we are concentrating on lone parents as their children will in September be settled into nursery or school and so this may now be the time for them to start thinking about their future, what employment they would like to get and the routes they can follow to achieve this.
Under this same contract we can support those who feel they are at risk of re-offending or find alcohol or drugs a problem to entering or re-entering the workforce.
Sutton
The WNF Employment Connections Sutton Programme is aimed only at those who are currently unemployed, aged 19+ and living the Sutton Wards.
Birmingham Metropolitan Colleges (Sutton, Matthew Boulton, James Watt and Josiah Mason) are working in partnership with Enta, Merlin Venture, and Castle Vale Residents and Tenants Association (CVRTA) to offer support and training to those preparing for and seeking paid employment.
Since the programme started in January 2010 a great number of people from the Sutton Constituency have been supported into either paid work or paid work experience. At present 150 people are being supported and up to 10 have got permanent jobs.
